I am sure you would have experienced that feeling where you wanted to just run away from everyone and everything around you. It is normal to have that feeling. In fact, it is a necessity. We all need to have that “alone time”. It helps us to know ourselves better. You get more tuned with your body as well as mind. So, here I am presenting some tips on how to enjoy your own company.

1) Get rid of Misconceptions — It usually happens that we feel awkward being alone. Our society usually drives us to certain myths which we are bound to impose on our lives. For Example-

§ You can’t eat lunch alone. You need someone beside you.

§ You can’t go to the market alone.

§ You can’t have a solo trip.

Something that everyone prefers doesn’t mean it should be done by you too. It’s your life, make your own rules. You need not follow everything that society does. Make your own identity and have a unique personality.

2) Find ‘your thing’ — ‘Your thing’ can be anything from cooking, singing, dancing, traveling, reading, etc. So, when you actually step out of the zone of validation, you go into a place where you are not judged for whatever you do because the only person you’re spending your time with is ‘YOU’. So, find what makes your heart really happy. It will help you discover a lot more about yourself. You can even try a new activity and who knows you become the next master of that!

3) Read and Write — Reading and writing are the most rewarding and valuable hobbies and skills one can attain in his lifetime. According to me, reading and writing is something very personal and also very therapeutic. You can reduce your stress level and calm yourself just by spilling out that whole experience out on paper. Also, there are many books that inspire you and motivate you to be the best version of yourself. They help you get out of your comfort zone. You can get some really inspiring books from sites like Shopify.

4) Get a Digital Detox — We, humans, spend an incredible amount of time on smartphones, laptops, televisions, etc. Most people cannot work without them these days. That is why digital detox is trending and rising. You can even consider it as a form of meditation. If due to work and prior commitments, you cannot ban digital gadgets completely, then try setting up limits and breaks for yourself. Make a timetable of digital detoxification to reduce your screen time so that you can see the world outside of these gadgets.

5) Go for a Nice Meal all by Yourself — Go to your favorite restaurant and order your favorite meal. You may feel kind of lonely and judged by other people for being alone like this. But trust me, once you starting getting out all by yourself, you won’t ever crave company. Nothing is better than your own company.

Enjoying your own company and discovering yourself more bit by bit will soon make you an independent person. You’ll be able to understand your good and bad. You will have more peace of mind and enjoy your life in a better way.
