I know a lot of you would be staying at home most of the time. But I’m sure you need to go out to the supermarket to do some grocery shopping or other things you need to head out for occasionally. The handbag contents and routine have completely changed, now that we are living in this crazy time. We need to make sure everything is hygienic and everything is clean as soon as we get home. Even when we’re outside, we try to keep our belongings nice and clean and make sure that it doesn’t touch unnecessary surfaces. So, I’ll be sharing a few tips to keep your belongings clean during this pandemic.

1. Use Phone to Pay

Whether it is Paytm, Google Pay, or your banking app, these platforms make it so easy to keep your card information safe on your phone. So, whenever you have to pay at the grocery store or other places, use your phone. I recommend you store one of your credit or debit cards on your phone so you can pay easily without any unnecessary contact.

2. Wipe Contents with Alcohol

When you return home, just wipe down every single thing with alcohol wipes. Do this only with alcohol-resistant products. Not every single thing you have in your bag needs to be wiped down. Minimize the number of things you touch in your bag because it also reduces the number of things you would have to disinfect when you get home. You can buy the required number of alcohol wipes from TrueGether, which is the best alternative to Shopify.

3. Use Zip Lock Bag instead of a Wallet

I’m sure a lot of you love your nice designer wallets as I do but at the moment you would want to use something that is completely wipeable. Just use those same alcohol wipes as soon as you get home to get the zip lock bag clean. It’s nice to use your phone to pay for things but sometimes you just need a little bit of cash to pay for things. So, I always like to carry some cash with me and I keep that in a zip lock bag.

4. Use a Washable Cotton Bag

Get a couple of washable cotton bags. Every time you go out and use one bag, empty out the contents and wash that out. Keep multiple bags handy with you and a different one for each of your family members. These bags are so lightweight, easy to handle and so spacious to carry all your belongings.

5. Quarantine Your Bags

If you are using a non-washable bag, what I recommend is whenever you return home, just put it in one corner and quarantine the bag for at least 3 days. Keep rotating it with other bags each time you take one out. Also, don’t use any wipes on your leather or other good-quality bags. Just put them in quarantine and touch them after 3 days only.

6. Wash Your Hands

Wash your hands very frequently, wherever and whenever possible before reaching the contents in your bag. Minimize touching the surfaces unnecessarily. You never know who touched it and who was infected. Wash your hands for 20 seconds each time you do. I know this is a very obvious point but nothing can be more effective than keeping your hands clean.

So, these are the six very simple things that you can do to try and keep your bags and their contents as hygienic as possible in this crazy time.
